DAY 2
Step 1 - Form Groups
The teacher will divide the class equally into two main groups for the Climate Change Debate.
Main Groups
Pro
The "Pro" Group will be arguing the idea that Global Climate change is being sped up by human activity and that we must take action to reverse the changes.
Con
The "Con" group will be arguing from the point of view that Global Climate Change is a natural process that is not significantly affected by human activity.
Subcommittees
Students in each of the main groups will be assigned to one of 4 subcommittees of 2-3 students that will focus on different topics within the larger debate. The Subcommittees are as follows:
Agricultural
Economic
Environmental
Social
Main Groups

Step 2 - Website Research/Evaluation
Each subcommittee will evaluate one of the listed websites for their group using the CRAAP Checklist.
In addition to evaluating the website, each subcommittee will summarize the content of their website for the benefit of others in their main group. Your summary should contain the following:
List of the Main Ideas of the website
List of the strengths of the website
List of the weaknesses of the website

Step 3 - Debate Preparation
After sharing the findings from the websites, the groups will break into their subcommittees again to prepare for their section of the debate. Each subcommittee will be given 2 questions for which they will prepare an argument from their particular point of view (pro or con). Be sure to use details from your research to support your argument.
